Do some stoves have griddle covers? I think I see that in some of the photos sometimes.
That copper beauty is a real impressive stove....I'm very curious what the topcoat is on the copper. More than any other finish, copper is the most delicate as it's got to have a protective coat of some sort whereas the enamel is the protective coat itself.
Phoebe, the C's had an optional griddle cover (B's didn't because of the fold-down canopy top.) I had one once, but sold it because I was extremely unimpressed with it - it was very flimsy and easily dented. It also didn't stay on my griddle very well - sort of just flopped around.

The original griddle covers may have been flimsy, but the stainless one I have (purchased from Macy's) is terrific. I have had it for 20 years, and it has helped me make excellent use of that space when not using the broiler or griddle. The stainless cover is of course not original equipment, but I think it is a very acceptable & useful addition.
